What to see in Göttingen

GINTINGA (in German: Göttingen, Pron.: [ˈꞬœtɪŋən] (? It is located south of that state, adjacent to the states of Hesse and Turingia. The Leine river crosses the municipality, which in turn is born in Lake Kiessee located south of the city.

It is a historical city, founded during the Middle Ages and whose importance grew after the foundation of the University of Gotinga in 1734. The city was part of the Holy Roman Empire, the kingdom of Westfalia, the kingdom of Hannover, to the kingdom of Prussia and then integrated into the German Empire. During World War II it was attacked from the air, although it was not very affected by Anglo-American bombings. The city currently maintains its importance due to the university, which receives numerous international students and Erasmus.

The city has a railway station that offers rail services to some of the great German cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Hannover or Frankfurt Am Main. Through rail connections, it can also be linked to Frankfurt and Hannover airports.
